Edisonia Collection
In the area of historic preservation, the Fund acquired
over the years a large collection consisting of over five thousand tangible
items of Edisonia, namely, early electric lamps, vintage phonographs,
motion picture projectors, and numerous other artifacts related to the
inventions and discoveries of Thomas Edison. These items of Edisonia are
on display in some eighty museums across the continental United States.
With some frequency these exhibits are moved from one museum to another
to enhance their public exposure. The Fund's Museum Coordinator pays periodic
visits to these museums to insure that the Fund's properties are properly
cared for and displayed. He offers advice, when needed, on how to make
better use of the materials for the education and enjoyment of the American
public and international visitors.
